Keepmoat Homes Consults ahead of Reserved Matters application for WT Henley Building, The Shore.

28 September 2021

The WT Henley Building received Outline planning permission for a mixed-use development, including a designation for community use as part of the wider Northfleet Embankment redevelopment.

Our detailed plans for the WT Henley Building are pursuant to this approval, but will include detailed matters such as the layout of the building as well as the future uses of the community space.

The consultation period ran until the end of September, with a dedicated project website set-up detailing the proposals, with a newsletter invitation sent to existing cable Wharf residents and local neighbours.

The proposals for the sensitive redevelopment of the WT Henley building, which would see the retention of the building, including the important character and heritage features, will deliver:

  • A total of 2 two-bedroom and 2 one-bedroom residential apartments on the first and second floor, which will be accessed using the existing, architecturally significant stairwell.
  • A new residents’ garden to the front of the building.
  • New, multi-use, fully accessible community spaces at ground floor, including:
  • Two flexible rooms.
  • A community kitchen area and WC facilities.
  • A community garden, with terrazzo paving and soft landscaping to the frontage of the building.
  • A new, accessible entrance into the site from the rear of the building through a small single-storey rear extension.
  • A covered refuse store.
  • The retention of the existing parking, as well as new covered and uncovered cycle spaces.

Keepmoat Homes are now preparing to submit the Reserved Matters application in October.
